a very warm welcome to all of you
Today it's a great day for our school. As the Headmaster of this institution I will present you some facts about our school.
Our school is a vocational school in the German Dual System, a full-time specialized vocational school and a vocational grammar school for economics.
More than 1.200 pupils attend Hermann-Gundert-School. For Germany this is a rather big school, I know, but not for India.
Around 600 students attend the vocational school in the Dual System, the so called "Kaufmännische Berufsschule".
About 400 students attend the various full-time specialized vocational schools, the "Berufsfachschulen".
Over 250 students attend the vocational grammar school for economics, the so called "Wirtschaftsgymnasium".
The staff of Hermann-Gundert-School comprises 82 teachers. Our students are aged between 16 and 23. Basic subjects are taught as well as economics, accounting, data-processing and management studies.
It is rather difficult to compare educational systems of two different countries. In India you would say the Hermann-Gundert-School in Calw is a college for economics and a college for home economics.
All in all the Hermann-Gundert-School includes 14 different types of schools. For such a highly structured school, it was very difficult to find a distinguished person whose name is representative for all the different types of schools which we offer. Dr. Hermann Gundert is such a personality who meets these requirements.
We are proud that our school has been given the name of Dr. Hermann Gundert.
