Nagold Valley Cycle Route

Anyone wanting to explore Calw by bike will get his money’s worth on the Nagold biking trail, which follows the winding river Nagold for a distance of approx. 90 km.

The Nagold valley cycle route is part of the cycling route "Heidelberg – Black Forest – Lake Constance" and follows the river Nagold. The source of the Nagold is near Besenfeld in the Black Forest. After passing through the reservoir Besenfeld-Erzgrube, it flows through Altensteig to the district town of Nagold. From Wildberg it traverses the picturesque valley Seitzental until it reaches the Teinach train station and shortly afterwards the Hermann Hesse town Calw. You can take your next break within the historic Hirsau monastery complex before continuing on the beautiful route from Bad Liebenzell via Unterreichenbach to your final destination Pforzheim. The route may, of course, also be cycled in the other direction.

The Nagold valley cycle route flyer provides you with information on the route and general information on accommodation, bike rental, repair shops and the sights to see. A short description of the towns along the Nagold provides an initial impression.
For further information please refer to

Between Pforzheim and the town of Nagold, the Nagold valley railway line runs parallel to the cycle trail. You can therefore stop your bike trip whenever you like and continue your journey by train (“Kulturbahn”) or conveniently return to your starting point.
